27/06/2026 - Return to the Void

Although I've already spent 811 hours in-game, I've decided to return to No Man's Sky. I absolutely adore Hello Game's space exploration title and while it's true it has its shortcomings, there is something about it I find incredibly engrossing.

One thing I've always wanted to do is write an exploration journal based on the game. This is something I've done before, particularly when playing Riven, and I think NMS would be the perfect title for such a project. The issue previously is that I could never quite find the right home for it. Blogger wasn't it, and Tumblr didn't feel right. The NMS wiki is just too cumbersome to use. So I gave up on the idea. Now with Neocities, I think I'm in the right place to start working on it.

The journal will act as a kind of shrine for NMS. I'll post about the ships, weapons, vehicles and particularly cool flora, fauna and planets I come across. A big part of it will be traveling to the in-game universe's center, which I've never actually done.

I'm under no illusions that this will probably only be interesting to a select few, but I'm also doing this to record my time with the game to look back at. If the game ever ends (as in Hello stops supporting it) it'll be cool to have this to look back on.

I'm not sure when the journal will be live. I've not even started building the pages yet. I may wait until the Sonic page is 100% complete, but we'll see.

Speaking of the Sonic page, it is almost done. I've three sub-collections still to list, and that'll be it. Well, that'll be it for items I've catalogued. I realised there are a heap of collectables from all my collection I've photographed but not actually sorted the images yet. These will show up eventually, but it might be a slow drip. Other than that I want to work on a Phantom 2040 shrine, and I'm planning on moving my writer/ artist portfolio to Neocities so I've more control over it (and to get away from Google). When I do, I might even give the 2040 page its own URL.

So lots of things planned. I hope anyone reading this comes back to check it all out.
